The objective of this Master’s program is to teach students to conduct high-level research in the central themes of the Social Sciences. The Master provides advanced and interdisciplinary training in the Social Sciences, with a strong emphasis on methodology and quantitative analysis.

The Master covers three fields: political science, sociology and economic history.

During the first year, all courses are common, with two differentiated blocks: on the one hand, substantive courses in sociological analysis, social stratification, comparative politics, economic history and political economy; and, on the other, methodological courses in statistics, game theory and research design.

During the second year, there are some additional methodological courses and the student can choose one of the three specialization tracks (political science, sociology and economic history).

The Master’s students can continue their research in the PhD in Social Sciences offered by the UC3M Department of Social Sciences in collaboration with the IC3JM. The Master’s faculty is composed of members of the Department of Social Sciences of the IC3JM and by visiting professors. More information can be found on the Master’s website.
