In collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences and the Figuerola Institute – all at Carlos III University – the Max Weber Lectures feature renowned researchers whose work is of general interest in the Social Sciences, beyond the usual disciplinary boundaries of sociology, political science and economics.

A conference organized by Professor Jonas Radl, “Effort and Social Inequality” will take place on June 14-16, 2023. The conference will provide a platform for scholars to present papers on the role of effort in social inequality. It will also provide an opportunity to showcase the results of the EFFORT Project. Relevant research fields are education and learning, organizations and labor markets, life course and aging, trust and cooperation, as well as social networks and the environment. Participation will include, among other academics: Heike Solga (WZB Berlin Social Science Center), Elina Kilpi-Jakonene (University of Turku) and Kaspar Burger (University of Zurich).
